01

Write the recurring benefit before selecting AWD

List repeated routes, surface access, weather, passenger load and the task the owner expects additional driven capability to improve. Distinguish frequent requirements from an occasional trip with another practical solution. The RWD-versus-AWD guide frames the hardware decision; this review addresses its prepared purchase premium. Do not describe AWD as a substitute for suitable tyres, safe driving or applicable operating restrictions. If ordinary maintained roads dominate, name the useful difference rather than assigning value automatically to the highest drivetrain label. Driving preference can be a legitimate reason to spend more, but it should remain an explicit preference rather than a universal safety or financial claim.

02

Identify both vehicles and isolate the fitted difference

Collect original-market records, production identity, applicable battery information and confirmation of the actual driven configuration. The market-version review keeps European or other specifications separate from a China-market candidate. Similar trim translations do not establish equal equipment or battery. Retain missing accessories, disclosed alterations and present condition on each offer before describing the whole asking-price gap as an AWD premium. A rear badge or display animation alone is insufficient fitment proof. If another configuration is proposed, renew the comparison instead of transferring a model-level price argument to a car whose installed systems have not been identified.

03

Examine the vehicle as a complete traction arrangement

Use appropriate qualified scope for current driven-system findings, tyres, chassis, braking and relevant diagnostics. The tyre and wheel review keeps approved fitment and present condition beside drivetrain capability. Avoid hazardous traction demonstrations or an assumption that a warning-free dashboard certifies every component. Retain examination limits and consequential questions requiring diagnosis. Suitable tyres and operating limits matter on either driven layout; counting additional hardware independently of them can produce a misleading purchase comparison. A satisfactory ordinary road observation is useful dated evidence, not a guarantee of every difficult-road outcome or future system reliability.

04

Ask receiving providers about the identified system

Confirm practical diagnosis, applicable component identification and work scope with actual providers at destination. The maintenance and parts plan distinguishes routine servicing from assistance for the fitted drivetrain and high-voltage configuration. Retain location, exclusions and uncertain parts availability. Familiarity with another related EV does not establish capability for this candidate. Any seller or manufacturer commitment requires applicable written terms rather than an assumed brand-wide export warranty. A route benefit that looks useful can still be poor value when the owner cannot obtain consequential support after arrival. Compare the usable support conditions on both actual offers, not generic workshop names.

05

Compare the accepted prepared premium

Use dated proposals with equivalent essential suitability, current examination and delivery scope through the price guide. Separate comfort equipment and known correction from the driven-hardware difference, counting included operations once. The three-year cost worksheet can retain labelled energy and disposal assumptions without promising recovery of the premium. Do not invent a fixed energy penalty, resale uplift or price per driven motor. A higher ask is meaningful only when the buyer can identify the additional accepted benefit and the usable starting condition. An unexamined lower-priced alternative is not automatically a clean RWD baseline for the calculation.

06

Preserve why this owner accepts the additional cost

Record actual drivetrain, tyre scope, significant current findings, receiving support and the repeated task in the purchase equipment schedule. Explain whether the prepared difference buys useful capability, an acknowledged preference or an unresolved claim. A substituted VIN needs new system and condition review. After consequential preparation, keep suitable affected checks before handover. The conclusion should survive removal of speculative resale and dramatic demonstrations. It may justify AWD, favour an accepted RWD alternative or remain conditional; it does not establish that every buyer should prefer one layout or that additional driven hardware guarantees every later journey.
