Record every sidewall
Photograph size, load and speed rating, manufacturer, pattern, production code and relevant approval marks at all four corners. Include the spare or repair kit where fitted. A correct front tyre cannot represent the rear axle, and a nominal size alone does not prove an approved wheel width, offset or load capacity.
Map wear across the full tread
Measure inner, centre and outer zones and mark puncture repairs, cuts, bulges, cracking and flat spots. Inner-edge wear is easy to miss when the vehicle remains on the ground. Compare left and right patterns and connect the finding to pressure history, alignment, wheel damage, suspension condition or prior impact.
Inspect wheels and attachment
Check inner and outer rim lips, runout, cracks, repairs, fasteners, hub seating and signs of incorrect refinishing. Large wheels can hide damage on the cabin-facing edge. Confirm that accessories or locking keys are present and that a visually similar BYD wheel is not assumed compatible without its specification.
Measure alignment after condition checks
An alignment printout is useful only when tyre pressure, wheel condition and suspension joints are understood first. Record steering-centre position, road pull, vibration and braking behaviour. If values cannot be brought within the correct specification, investigate bent or shifted components instead of repeatedly adjusting around damage.
Test TPMS and destination supply
Read TPMS warnings and sensor status, then confirm that replacement sensors, tyres and competent fitting are available at the destination. Mixed rolling dimensions can affect AWD and stability systems. Include coding, balancing, alignment and disposal rather than budgeting only the rubber price.
Close condition at handover
Decide whether safety-critical replacement occurs before collection or after controlled delivery. Record cold pressures, tread, rim condition and repair decisions before inland transport and again at release. This separates pre-existing wear from transport damage and gives the buyer a usable arrival baseline.
Condition file close-out
Close this specific file by placing four-corner sidewall photographs, tread and repair map and wheel and suspension inspection images in one dated candidate record. The reviewer should be able to confirm that all four corners are independently recorded and that inner-edge wear is measured. Name the person or provider responsible for every unresolved point, add a realistic cost or consequence, and state what evidence will change the decision. If the VIN, version, condition or destination basis changes, reopen this file instead of carrying the previous conclusion into a different purchase.
Decision boundary
A useful decision records what is verified, what remains seller-stated and what was not tested. Attach a consequence and owner to each open item. Do not let a broad assurance replace a missing VIN record, charge test, condition image or destination opinion. Acceptance should be explicit: proceed, proceed with a priced condition, obtain more evidence, or reject. A replacement VIN never inherits an earlier acceptance.
Document discipline
Give images, scans, diagnostics and quotations a date, source and vehicle identity. Preserve originals before translation or editing. If custody, software, repair, route or candidate changes, identify which conclusions expire and repeat the affected checks instead of silently carrying them forward. Before inland release, read the same identity, propulsion, value and parties across contract, invoice, inspection and shipping drafts. Registration and customs remain separate destination checks.
