Sealion 7 Windscreen and Front-Camera Repair Evidence

A new windscreen can improve appearance while leaving unanswered questions about fit, camera mounting or the reason for replacement. For a Sealion 7 or Sea Lion 07 EV, match the glass and fitted systems to the exact original-market vehicle. Ask what work was done and which procedures applied. A warning-free dashboard is useful to observe, but it is not a complete record of a correctly specified and finished repair.

Establish the replacement history

Request the date, reason, workshop invoice and any photographs taken before the glass was removed. A localised stone impact and a collision affecting the aperture call for different follow-up. Use the structural condition guide where body damage is involved. Missing records should be described as an evidence gap, not automatically as proof of an accident. Ask the inspector to separate the condition currently observed from the seller's account. That distinction prevents a plausible explanation from being mistaken for a verified repair history.

Match the glass to the vehicle equipment

Record the VIN, original market and installed camera or sensor arrangement before evaluating a part reference. Ask a qualified supplier to confirm the applicable glass and associated components. Visual similarity across markets is not sufficient, and a panel that fits the opening may not establish correct equipment compatibility. Use the version information alongside component records. Where the invoice lists only generic glass, request clarification. Do not assume that every optional feature was retained merely because the replacement looks clean and the interior trim has been refitted neatly.

Inspect installation and visibility

Have a competent inspector assess visible fit, trim, sealing evidence and any distortion or damage affecting the driver's view. Record unusual wind noise or water symptoms during ordinary permitted use. Avoid probing bonded areas or removing trim without an appropriate workshop procedure. A photograph may show a crack but cannot establish the quality of an entire bonded installation. Where moisture appears, document the circumstances before cleaning. The repair assessment should consider both visibility and installation integrity rather than focusing exclusively on whether a camera warning is displayed.

Request the applicable camera procedure

Where front-camera equipment is fitted, ask which checks or calibration are required for the exact work performed. Requirements should come from applicable service information, not a universal claim that replacement glass always or never needs calibration. The ADAS calibration guide explains the broader evidence question. A useful report identifies the vehicle, date, system and procedure, with results interpreted by the workshop. Do not substitute an ordinary drive with no warning for required calibration, and do not deliberately provoke lane or collision warnings to validate the repair.

Keep regional software limitations separate

Some functions may depend on original-market equipment or destination support. Review the software and market assessment so an unavailable feature is not automatically blamed on the windscreen. At the same time, regional uncertainty should not be used to dismiss a documented installation problem. Preserve diagnostic findings before clearing them and have qualified support interpret them in context. An update promise is not evidence that a camera mount, part mismatch or bonding concern has been resolved. Keep physical repair, calibration and service availability as separate conclusions in the inspection file.

Confirm destination repair capability and cost

If work remains outstanding, ask the receiving workshop whether it can obtain the correct glass and perform any required procedures for this vehicle. Include installation, related parts, calibration and downtime in the quotation. A cheap panel price alone does not describe a complete repair. The purchase budget should reflect unresolved scope before payment. If the seller repairs before export, agree the evidence needed for acceptance. If the buyer repairs after arrival, avoid describing the vehicle as ready for normal use until any safety or visibility concerns have been assessed.

Preserve continuity through delivery

Compare arrival glass condition with dated dispatch photographs and record new damage before alteration. Retain the part reference, invoice and workshop results with the vehicle history. Include unresolved symptoms in the first local service brief so the destination technician does not repeat the investigation without context. If later work changes the camera, glass or related body area, ask whether a fresh procedure is required. Acceptance should rest on a coherent record of the actual repair, not a broad assurance that the windscreen was recently replaced and therefore needs no further attention.

Buyer checklist

  • Document why and when the glass was replaced.
  • Match parts and camera equipment to the exact vehicle.
  • Confirm required procedures with qualified support.
  • Retain repair and arrival evidence together.

Questions and answers

Should a replaced windscreen automatically disqualify a used car?

No. Assess the reason, correct parts, installation quality and applicable calibration evidence. The conclusion should follow the repair facts and current inspection.

Does a clear camera image prove calibration is correct?

No. Image visibility and required system calibration are different checks. Ask for the applicable procedure and supporting workshop record.
